Surprise Your Guests This Thanksgiving By Serving A Roast Ham

Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and yams.  It is just a guess, but isn’t that what you are planning on serving your houseful of guests this Thanksgiving?  Just guessing again, but is that what you served them last Thanksgiving as well?  How about the year before that?  While a turkey dinner at Thanksgiving is typical and classic, there is no reason why you can not jazz things up a bit this holiday season and serve up some of your favorite roast ham recipes instead of turkey, or even along with a turkey to give your guests an option of what main meat they would like to eat that year.  This especially holds true if you are planning on having a large gathering where one turkey just may not be enough to feed your entire party.

Serving ham as a main course for holidays has been a tradition with families for many years.  Whether it is for Christmas, Easter or any important family gathering, you can use your favorite roast ham recipe to create a fantastic meal for your guests this upcoming holiday season.  This delicious pork dish is accompanied perfectly with a golden plate of scalloped mashed potatoes, a crisp vegetable of fresh steamed green beans tossed with slivered almonds and whipped sweet potatoes.  The sweet potatoes add an extra sweetness next to the salty ham. When the two are eaten together, the combination is like a party in your mouth!  Your taste buds will thank you!

When the holiday meal is over and your guests have gone home to rest their full bellies, you can get busy planning the many delicious roast ham recipes you can make with your leftovers!  Ham is such a versatile meat that can be used for any meal at any time of the day.  You can dice it up and throw it in with some beaten eggs, green peppers and cheese for a tasty breakfast omelet.  For lunch you can give your kids a treat and put some ham in their favorite grilled cheese sandwich or dice it up and toss it with some lettuce, tomato and cheese for a delicious chef salad.  For dinner, mix your leftover ham with cooked egg noodles, 1 diced green bell pepper, 2 cans of cream of chicken soup, one can of corn (drained), 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, salt and pepper to taste.  If you are planning on being gone all day and won’t have time to throw dinner together, try putting the ham and noodle combination in the crockpot in the morning and you’ll have a great meal ready for you when you get home that is sure to be a dinner pleaser with your family at the dinner table tonight!
